Three Pieces for Cello and Piano

Three Pieces for Cello and Piano is representative of many of my works, in the way that it presents many short, sometimes rapidly contrasting sections of music–a kind of miniature musical tapestry.  The music in the each of the three short movements, like the ephemeral, transitory images of a haiku, revolves around, brief, fleeting melodic lines and ostinato patterns.  In fact, in this work, each of the three movements can be seen as corresponding to the three-line construction of the haiku.
